We took another day trip by bus along the Amalfie Coast. What a winding,
interesting ride along the cliffs above the Mediterranean! The road passes through several
picturesque towns and villages perched precariously on the rocky cliffs. This is a view
from above the town of Amalfie. |
 |
We enjoyed exploring the warren of back passageways between the houses
in Amalfie, and eventually found ourselves high above the town with a fantastic view.
|
 |
The path above the town
led us through this field of wildflowers and prickly-pear cactus, with a
view of the Mediterranean in the background. |
 |
Further along, the path
wound steeply back down the mountainside, between various homes, until we
arrived at this little enclave of houses, appartments and restaurants.
Right in the centre, was a small square, with a welcome little pub and a
restaurant where we were able to cool our heels, and quench our thirst and
appetites. |
 |
We took the commuter
train back to Naples, where we boarded the "Eurostar" high-speed
train, bound for Firenze (Florence), in the heart of the central portion
of Italy known as Tuscany. |
 |
What a contrast between this small
three-wheeled car and the Eurostar! This must be the smallest car in Firenze!
Great for parking, as one can pretend it is a motor scooter.
|
 |
Every street in both Rome
and Firenze is lined with motor scooters, one of the more popular methods
of transportation along the narrow streets ,often crowded with traffic and
pedestrians. |
